Got a quick question for you. Work and the weather has been a bear lately. Since I haven't been able to take out the boat much lately, how often should I run the engine? I've been running it up to temp by putting it in fwd and reverse about every 2-3 weeks. Is that enough? We repowered just over a year ago and have about 65hrs on it. Because of where we sail/cruise when time allows, we usually end up motoring about 10-14 hrs total per trip.
BTW, I still haven't managed to get the tranny filler plug off! Had to change out fluid with a turkey baster and a tube...
Are you guys going to be in St. Pete. FL this year for the Sail Expo?
Thanks!

Just thought of something else, I was looking at the web site and saw the high rise exhaust elbow picture and it had some kind of insulating wrap on it. It I wrapped my exhause like that do you think it would significantly keep the engine room temps down?
I am at the Annapolis show at the moment. The next Florida show that we will be attending is the Miami Strictly Sail in February. There are simply too many shows and it is impossible to (and much too expensive) to attend them all.
You seem to be fine the way you are using your engine now. I dont think that you need to change your habits. As far as the transmission plug is concerned. Your problem is possibly that you cannot get the correct leverage for this. I suggest that you make sure that you are using the correct size socket (or wrench) and just undo it. You need to turn the plug counterclockwise (when viewed from the top) to undo. It will be tight initially.
