Beta 14 saildrive

----I find it hard to believe that I am the first person who has accomplished or even considered the installation of a Beta 14 saildrive. I guess that I become a beta tester. I found this lack of energy at sharing and communicating very frustrating within the wooden boat community with the result that often times people had to reinvent the wheel. This was true of a situation where the skills were dying out at an alarming rate and the cognoscenti have always had to protect their microcosmic position. At any rate I plan to proceed with the idea although it will cause obvious damage to the speed performance of my small trimaran. Not only do I look towards propulsion and proper weight placement but also battery charging, hot water, and water making. All within a 2400lb payload including crew. If I do proceed I will be glad to share my experience and findings with anyone who asks and tell him why I did not.........Dmitri

Hello Dmitri,

I too, would like others who have done their own installs to report on them and this is what I had hoped for when this forum was originally set up. It has however developed into a reasonably good question and answer series on many different topics and hopefully there are a lot of poeple who have benefitted from this forum.

Having said that, hopefully someone who has done their own saildrive installation will have some pointers for you. That way, all of us can learn a bit.

Out of interest, what state (or country) are you based in?

Regards, Stanley
