Beta 16 Install Questions

I'm installing a Beta 16 and have a few questions:

Exhaust: What is metallurgy of riser?  304, 316? I have the high version & need to have cut and re-welded & The welder may ask what rod (309?) to use.  Since I'm modifying, will likely kick to side far enough to allow tube stack removal.  Next, do you have an alternative suggestion for the transom riser?  The Vetus gooseneck is a few inches too tall for my aft locker.  I only have about 16" above discharge centerline to work with.  Just build out of hose and fittings?

Shift cable:  My pedestal (and old engine) used a 60 series cable.  Is there an adapter to connect the 5/16" 24 thread shift cable end  to the shift lever?  I will figure out but if you have solution... would save some brain cells and time.

Oil drain Hose:  With narrow feed, it hits rails - just a suggestion that the hose could be designed or supported to hug engine closer.  Just mounting the hand pump higher doesn't really help given how much higher the engine already is over previous engine.

Hello Fred,

Answers to your questions as follows

The high rise exhaust is fabricated from 316 stainless steel.

Regarding a transom gooseneck for the exhaust, you can either put a longer hose in and loop it, or we have our own gooseneck which is only 19" long and may be a better fit than the Vetus one., they do not have to mounted absolutely vertical to function correctly.

On the shift cable, I am not aware of an adapter,  the locking nut that is fitted to the type 33 cable can be brazed onto the fitting for the pedestal to adapt it and still keep it adjustable at the pedestal end.

Thank you for your comment regarding the oil drain hose, we will look into this.

Robert
