Whining sound when in gear.

I am experiencing a whining sound when in forward and reverse when the engine rpm is below 1200.
In neutral the engine is quiet and smooth.
I have a BV-1505 with about 140 hours on the clock.
The gear box oil level appears normal.
Any idea what could be causing this?

Hello Mike,

I suggest that you disconnect the shaft coupling and then run the engine and put it in forward and reverse. If there is no whining noise then, look to having your prop removed and getting a prop shop to put an anti-squeal edge on it.

Thank you Stanley, I will try that as soon as I can.
