Kubota D600

Folks;

I've been given a used Kubota D600 (approximately 1991 model year?).  The engine has low hours and came from a small yard tractor.  The engine was running well before cutting deck problems sidelined the tractor and its been sitting for the last 3 years.  I'm looking at what it would take to modify it to replace the Atomic Four in my 27' sailboat.  A few questions:

1.Does anyone know whether the D600 (3 cyl.) shares the block from one of the current Kubota models (ie. D722)?

2.It appears that I would need to add a new transmission (TMC 40 Technodrive?), a new water-cooled exhaust manifold, exhaust system components, shallow sump, and raw water cooling pump.  Are there any other systems that would need to be modified/added in order to make it suitable?

Any other suggestions/hints/comments would be appreciated...

P.

Hello,
The Kubota D600 was replaced by the later mini series which included the D662 and D722. The D600 is not an engine that Beta Marine ever marinised and I dont know any other company that did. This will put you on your own for things like manifolds etc and you may find that by the time you have produced a marine engine using this block, it would be more economical to just purchase a new complete engine.

Universal marinised the V800 for a short time and this is the 4 cylinder of the version of the D600 block. They did marinise the D640 in the late 1980's but I haven't seen one of those for years. This block is likely to be similar to yours.
