Im in the process of installing a new Beta 28 in my 1965 Allied Seabreeze.I'm replacing the existing tank, but plan on keeping the same location which is aft of the engine (secured under the ****pits deck) and above it (top of the tank ~10-12 above engine).Will this present any unique problems since most fuel tanks are located lower than the engine (i.e., fuel pump suction on the feed line, and gravity fed return line).In particular, Im concerned about the return line.Will I need a separate collection tank located lower than the injectors to facilitate a gravity drain?
This should not cause any problems for you at all and will make the process of bleeding the fuel system completely painless.
I do have one suggestion however. Put a shut off valve on the intake side of your primary fuel filter / water separator to stop fuel siphoning from the tank when you service the system. Although you still need one on the tank, the one on the filter makes the servicing much easier.
