Later this week the boat will be hauled and old engine out....prep the area ...for new engine...
I have an engine lift mounted in my boat now off the keel bolts so should be "easier" to attach and lower work the new engine into the bed... Correct me if you have other ideas...Going to lower the new beta in and align as clost / best as possible to the shaft,,, scribe this to the engine bed off the new mounts so I know where to attach some new hardwood which will be glassed in and be the new 16" on centre mounts....
Or I thought of a cardboard cut out of the 4 mounts with a fold on the end then mount her in?? l
Do all the Beta engines come with the lifting eyes as I dont recall seeing them on my block?? (wont see my engine till wed) same question about the hot water heating?
Will be attaching new 5/16" fuel lines and racor 500 recommended...
I have attached 2 photos of an engine jig that I have used a few times. Use the flexible mounts that come with the engine and check your measurements carefully to make sure that you have the dimensions right. This is much easier to lift that the actual engine.
There are 2 lifting eyes on the engine. One on the stbd side of the cylinder head near the front and the other at the port side rear of the cylinder head.
