Building 23 ft double ender.

Planning  for a Beta marine install. Building a 23 ft wooden double ender, heavy but small.  (1) Should you, could you drill shaft bore, at appropriate angle thru floors and sternpost first, then allign engine/tranny to drilled out shaft. Hopefully at a 7 degree angle.  (2)   What diameter to drill the bore? I found a discounted (still in box) 7/8 inch shaft diameter: 2 inch stern tube PSS Shaft Seal. Quality item and inexpensive. Would this be OK?  Or,,, is there a majic formula for a 13.5 HP Beta that uses other dimensions. Have not built the rudder, so a 16 or 17 inch prop could be used.  Any thoughts or recomendations appre.

Hello Chuck,

These are questions better directed at a boat builder or designer. Our specialty is in engine power. We would recommend you find a seasoned builder that is local to you and pose these questions to him.

It sounds like a fun project. Let us know how it comes out!
