BetaMarine 90 HP keel cooling : expansion tank

I am building an AL-riverboat, please see the homepage.
And hello to everone here ...

Ordered a 90 HP Betamarine for keel cooling and dry exhaust.
It will be delivered in a few weeks.

The ceel cooler will be welded as a slant plate at the box keel, on both sides,
each 4,5 to 5 meters long.
There will be an additonal amount of coolant of about 45 ltrs.

My question: does the original expansion tank take this amount addionally ?
or do i have to add another tank?

Hello Klaus,

No you will not have to add another tank.

Best regards,

Farron, thank you for that answer, this will ease a lot.

May i continue ... with a question.
I would like to build a 150 ltrs. heat storage tank.
An open system, which i want to feed by the motor cooling circuit,

but also by an oil stove and maybe in future by a solar element

To dimension the heat coil in that tank for the motor circuit,

i would need the amount of flow of the coolant liquid.
I am aware that this will depend on the RPM of motor, but just to get a feeling for that.

Of course i would be pleased, if anybody had such a configuration in operation or any other experience,

to get further hints for that issue.

Hello Carlos,

Welcome to the forum!

By your description and requirements the Beta 20 would give you all the power you need and more. The Beta 25 would also be a nice fit and provide plenty of reserve power.

We would recommend the TMC 40, 2.6:1 ratio transmission for either engine.

Best regards,

Farron

Hello Carlos,

Based on the figures you provided. Use a 13"x9" three blade propeller if using a 2:1 transmission.
Work with 50% blade area ratio. Your local prop shop should be able to help you here.
