new 90 HP keel cooled version : with wet exhaust

My 90 HP has arrived some weeks ago, but the bed is still not prepared for ...

In the mean time i was thinking of to change my config and would like to know,
if that would work.

I would leave the keel cooling as it is.
But the exhaust should be wet.

So would it work if i purchase and mount a approbriate pump and
this Y-injection pipe, as it is mounted on the non keel cooled version of the 90 HP ?

Hello hakl,

The short answer is yes. You can mount a pump and water inject your exhaust.

This will require an engine mounted impeller pump which in some ways negate the advantage of the keel cooled system which requires no raw water pump.

It is possible that you will find an advantage in routing the wet exhaust and not having to design around a hot dry exhaust system.

Hello Farron,
thank you for that answer, that is exactly what i want (maybe) to gain of.
The motor is in the middle of the boat and a dry exhaust with al it's insulation against the interior would be (maybe) a too huge pillar right up within the boat.

I would implement an aluminium or SS exhaust pipe after the flexible junction at the motor, running through the boat for 7 meters.

I also think, that even when the raw water pump whould fail, it should be possible to run the motor a while,
as long as the exhaust pipe is insulated properly?

The keel cooling for the motor and gearbox i see more crucial in canals.
