Storage of engine

I just bought a used Beta 20 with 170 hours on it. I am building a new sailboat and won't install the engine for two to three years. I was going to change the oil and coolant then run it for ten minutes or so, drain the fuel, before storing it indoors. Is there anything else I should do?

Hello Scott,

I suggest that you buy a quart of calibration fluid from a fuel injection repair shop and run the engine on this instead of diesel fuel. Calibration fluid wont absorb moisture (water) and thus will protect the inside of the injection pump and injectors. Have fun with your project.

Regards, Stanley
