Starting Question

I recently purchased a boat with a BD722. The control panel that came with it doesn't match with the current Operator's Maintenance Manual (no counter clockwise heat). I assume it's older. I've been told various different ways to start the engine that generally conflict with the manual (that's not long enough, that's too long etc). I know this might be a dumb question but what is the proper protocol to start the motor using this panel.

I found a picture because the above is likely confusing. confuse

Hello and welcome to the forum,

This a panel style that has not been used in a while.

This key switch operates clockwise per the legend on the panel face.

I.E.,  OFF - RUN - HEAT - START

When the engine is cold, turn and hold the key to the HEAT position for 10 seconds.

Then turn the key beyond HEAT position to the START position to crank the engine over.

When you release the key it will automatically return to the RUN position

Stop the engine with the STOP button before turning the key to the OFF position.

Call or e-mail me direct and I will get you a copy of the correct manual for your engine.
