The tmc60 manual briefly recommends sailing in neutral but says while towing it may be placed in reverse. Since it is a cone type gear box is it not recommended to remain in neutral and let the shaft free wheel?
Also, you thought of synthetic ATF such as Red Line? We have had good results from the use of synthetics in other transmissions.
On page 26 of the Technodrive operating manual that comes with each new TMC40, TMC60/TMC60A and TMC260 you will see the following: NOTE: while sailing with the engine off (under sails), the propeller rotation can be inhibited by shifting the transmission into reverse. You can read the complete manual at this link: files.twindisc.it/tdfiles/disc3/manuale%20uso%20e%20manutenzione%20%20TMC40-60-260.pdf
NOTE: for some reason, this link only works when you copy it and paste to the top of your browser.
The ATF in this transmission is there to lubricate the bearings and help cool the transmission. If the synthetic ATF can do this, it should be ok.
