Calorifier Fittings for Beta 60

Stanley,

I am installing the calorifier fittings to my Beta 60 (WOC K30860) and want to confirm the location of the hot water side fitting. The drawing shows the 1/8 inch fitting going in just forward of the rear lifting eye.  On my engine I can see a fitting, but there is a wire attached to it.  Is this a sending unit or simply a grounding stud. Assuming this is the correct location for the small fitting, do I need to do anything with the wire?

Also, I note that a copper sealing washer was included with the kit. This is for sealing the 1/8 inch connection to the engine block?

Thanks for your help.

Michael

Welcome to the forum Michael.

The temp switch on your engine will need to moved to the forward position and the wire will have to be extended accordingly.
I will need the Woc number of your engine to find out it's exact spec before I can provide any further help.

Stanley,

I finished installing the calorifier fittings on my beta 60 and filled the engine with fresh coolant.  I think I need to bleed air from the system as I am getting a high temp alarm after a few minutes.  I seem to recall that when we commissioned the engine, this was an issue as well.  I just can't recall the steps needed to burp out the air.

There is a plug at the top of the thermostat housing which is the highest point on the engine.  I have opened that up in the hopes that I could bleed any residual air from the system but that did not seem to do the trick.  I was fortunate in being able to locate my hot water heater a foot or more below the lowest part of the engine, so I presume that with the exception of an increased volume of coolant, I should be able to proceed with refilling normally.

I will return this evening and have another go.  Perhaps time will have allowed the air to work its way out and this will be resolved but I thought if you have any suggestions or tricks for taking care of the issue with a minimum of fuss, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Michael
