Restarting Beta 20 after 18 months

My Pearson Vanguard has been on the hard for about 18 months undergoing some restoration. I'll be back in the water in a few weeks and want to know if there are any special steps I should take before starting the engine after such a long period of sitting. FYI, it was properly winterized before the boat was hauled out.

Also...I need to replace my starting battery. I have a new 500 CCA starting battery I can install. The specs call for between 350 and 400 CCA. I assume using a 500 CCA is ok. True?

Thanks!

Hudson

Hello Hudson,

Your battery should be just fine. Have fun on the water.

Cheers,
Stan

Thanks.
So regarding restarting after the long downtime, nothing special to do? Just check fuel, fluids and fire it up (impeller has zero hours on it, but I'll check it too)?

I would replace the impeller with a new one if it has been left in the pump for this length of time without being used.
Make sure that the air filter is clean, the exhaust is clear and that the intake thru hull is open.
It wont hurt to crank the engine over with the stop button depressed for a few seconds to get the oil flowing again before releasing it.
