My new Beta 38 (WOC K35616) is mounted on an 8 degree down angle. The manual calls for 6.5 liters of oil in the engine but, after pumping out all of the oil and adding about 6.5 quarts of new oil (6.2 liters), the oil level was already well over the full mark on the dipstick and I had to pump out some new oil to observe that upper dipstick mark. How will my down-angle mounting affect the dip stick readings either due to dipstick position or to oil remaining in the low side of the pan even when the mounted pump can pull no more oil from the pan drain fitting?
Do I still observe the dipstick markings or do I still add 6.5 liters (6.9 quarts) of oil?
With the engine at only 8° angle, the dipstick will set the level correctly. The volume of oil used may be different than what is spec'd in the manual however the required level of oil should be the same and this is established by the marks on the dipstick. It is important that you do not fill the engine to above the full mark on the dipstick. Keep the oil level between the marks.
