I have a nice Racor fuel pre-filter with a clear water catcher lower bowl. I watched a few moss balls grow over the winter and decided to clean them out. When I re-assembled it all I could fill the hose from the tank to the pre-filter and the filter but had no way to fill the hose to the Beta 14 engine fuel pump. It started right up and ran like a top. Where did the air in the fuel line go? Is there a relief in the injector pump that removes it?
These Kubota engines have the capability to pass ''some'' air through the system via the return line. You must not have had much air in the line. I would recommend installing an outboard motor style primer bulb between the Racor and the fuel tank. This squeeze bulb would allow you to easily bring fuel out of the tank and fill the Racor filter. If you keep squeezing, it will push fuel and air through the engine mounted fuel filter and back to the tank via the return line.

The air was returned back to the tank. The engine will self purge a certain amount of air which will help you to have smooth sailing and motoring. If you look at the injection pump you will see that at the front of the pump is a small tube which is connected to the return line rail on the injectors. This is the route that the air took.
