B-50 Sea Trial Questions

Engine overall is running beautifully, very smooth on the soft mounts in conjunction with the Python-Drive.

Only questions are around running at WOT (which I shall most likely never do as usual practice) First question - was able to get to 2750 rpm before the speed would not increase (hit 8.5 Knots)  I plan to cruise in the 1800 to 2400 rpm range (5 to 7 knots), WOT speed is not an issue with me. Any comment here?  And 2) only out of ordinary observation was some minor smoke coming from the 6" high rise exhaust elbow during and only during WOT. Temperature on the elbow was reaching 400 degrees. Engine temp was at the usual 165-170. The smoking stopped as soon as the rpm was lowered by 100 or so rpm. Checked the temp a minute or 2 later at 2600 rpm and it was in the 200 degree range. Any reason for concern, just new material being broken in?

I could not be more pleased with the engine and look forward to the upcoming season. Thanks for your assistance.

The heat wrap on the high rise exhaust elbow will settle in and stop smoking and smelling after an hour or so of running. This is just the new fibreglass wrap heat sealing itself.
As you are correctly propped, I suggest that you just enjoy your new baby.
