Beta 43 Exhaust Gas Temperature

I'm installing a pyrometer on my Beta 43 engine and would like to know the EGT at the dry side of the exhaust elbow.

Thanks!

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

You can expect to see an exhaust temp of around 500° C.

Is that a "don't go over 500C or just a good average depending on load?

Thanks,

Bruce

At full load you will see about 500° C.

We have a temperature gauge about 5 cm downstream of the water to exhaust mixer.
Quite consistently when under normal loads , it shows 21 deg C above sea water temperature. When first installed, we were in Arctic Norway, and the 20 deg temperature was a shock.

We see it as a fairly rapid warning and alarm for a blocked sea-water inlet.
