Sump Pump

Hi,

Beta 14 2017 (small sump option)

My oil change pump (integral part of engine) appears to be problematic.

We always get the oil hot before pumping out. We remembered to open the valve (and check its open by feeling the pump).

This year, we were only able to get about half a litre out of the pump before we could hear it was just pulling air. Checking the dispstick showed oil remaining.

Unsure what had happened, we topped the dirty oil back up - got it right up to temperature and pumped out again. This time we got more oil but still not enough. As I didn't have an alternative way of pumping out (and wanted to use the engine) - we just repeated the partial changes until the oil looked fairly clean.

Has anyone else had a "failure" of this very simple pump after just 6 uses?

The parts book shows the pump as a sealed unit.

If the part has this short a life, I don't want to replace it with the same thing. I'm thinking either a vacuum pump that I can thread down the dipstick tube or a better fixed pump.

Does anyone have experience of this issue?

Many thanks

K
