Your blog for ElegantSea is a true gem for any owner of an older boat.  Thank you.  I have a Cal 39 with similar displacement to your Freeport and a slightly longer water line.  I was wondering if you have ever felt underpowered with the Beta38 and have wished you would have gone a little bigger.  I also am replacing a Perkins 4108.  The math pencils to the 38 with my 16" prop, but everyone thinks I'm crazy for not going with more power.  I'm now between the Beta 43 and the 38 in my decision process.
