i,m having a strange problem related to the BZ482 that is in use on my sailboat. Starting just this season I,m seeing a buildup of soot or carbon on the stern of the boat. This has not happened before. After a day of motoring it is quite notacable. I can not see any notacable smoke in the exhaust when running and the engine is not lacking in power. It starts as easy as the day it was installed.
The engine has about 900 hrs on it. I've changed the air cleaner. Valves have proper clearance. No apparent blockage in exhaust system. All proper maintence has been done in the past 6 years of owning the boat. Hopefully not an injector problem starting? Colin...
Welcome to the forum. If the boat has a clean bottom and the prop is clean, I would look to servicing the injectors. Kubota's service recommendation is for the injectors to be checked at 1000 hours to insure perfect combustion. The injectors are easy to remove and any fuel injection shop will be able to clean and re-set them.
Ok Stanley thanks. What info should I pass on to the shop regarding the injectors, other than the engine # and model? Do the injectors have to be torqued when replaced? Thanks again, Colin....
