Lifter noise

I have installed a Beta 25 and have lifter noise on start up? I had a mechanic adjust the lifters and that helped. But, I now have 98 hours on the new motor and the lifter noise is still there on cold start ups. Any suggestions ?

Hello Moonstruck,

A diesel engine will have a distinct sound while operating cold that could be interpreted as lifter noise. This sound changes quickly as the engine approaches operating temperature.

If the lifters have been set correctly I would be confident all is as it should be.

What crank case oil are you using? This can make a difference.

Thanks Farron, This is definately rocker arm/ lifter noise. It seems to be at cilynder #3 . A rocker arm that has slop for and aft rather than the adjustable side to side. I have been in contact with the dealer since the install and am now waiting to hear from Beta. But it seems to be a slow process....... I am using Shell 15-40. I was using Delo 30 before the 50 hr. oil change. I thought it might help to change to multi grade, but no change. I live in Washington state where the climate is mild this time of year....
