Stan, the runaway eng thread remided me of a ? on this subject. Will the electronic stock kill button stop a run away eng issue?? , or would I need to stop it with the stop lever by the throttle linkage? if so I may install a small cable from it with a ring exiting the engine box , rather then have to open up engine in an emergency....Red
A runaway engine is caused by the engine running on another fuel source, usually oil passing by the rings because it is close to worn out. If this happens, the only way to stop the engine is to shut off the air supply and this is usually done with a piece of wood covering the air intake on the manifold. This applies to naturally aspirated engines. Turbo charged engines have another possible cause for the problem but the solution is still to shut off the air supply with something solid like a piece of wood, never your hand.
