Getting ready to install this engine and have a 1/2" inlet hose from the old engine. I wondered if this is ok?
1/2" is too small as the fittings that this hose will go onto will restrict the waterflow.You need 3/4" hose and fittings and thru hull.

Looking at thru hulls, I see that a 3/4" thru hull takes a 5/8" hose. So do I need a bigger thru hull that takes a 3/4" hose?
And I assume I will need a bigger strainer too.
We use 1" thru hull with 3/4" full flow valve and the correct hose barb and adaptors for 3/4" hose.
As I said in a previous post, 1/2" is too small so if your strainer is for 1/2, it needs to be replaced.
