Temperature sensors

I am new to the forum. I have a new Beta 25 on order to replace a 38 year old raw water cooled yanmar. I would like a temperature gauge but due to size restrictions (140 mm max height), the panel that will fit comes with a temp alarm instead of a temp gauge. Can anyone tell me if the motors come from the factory with a temperature sensor that can be connected to a separate temp gauge? I do not think that the temp alarm sender is the same as a  temp gauge sender. Do they install a different temp sending unit if you order the panel with the temp. gauge?  Anyone have any ideas about how I could connect a separate temp. gauge? Thanks

Welcome to the forum Wade,

If you have ordered an engine with just the standard ABV panel (alarms and lights) then the engine will just have the switches for the alarms, not the variable sender for a gauge.

I have a suggestion, as your engine is still on order, why not ask your dealer to order a special panel for you. We have in the past supplied an ABV panel with a separate temp gauge on a pigtail so the temp gauge can be mounted alongside the panel instead. This way everything will be tested at the factory and you know that it will work when you install it.
