I installed a new Bata 25 and Sea Prop 60 Saildrive in my Cooper PH in 2010. Engine has 500 hours on it now. Last year I started to notice ATF leaking into the bilge from the bellhoushing. I ordered a new input shaft seal and waited to pull the boat to change it out. When I got the engine and Saildrive separated I found the input shaft locknut had backed completely off and was hanging on the shaft. How can this happen? It appeared the nut was punched to be locked in place. Im wondering if when assembled the bearings were not seated and caused the shaft to shift. Now I'm trying to find a replacement nut asap. Stanley I know you are the man is there a lock nut in the US? I may be able to reuse the old nut but I need the specs on the back lash for the bearing assembly that the nut holds in place.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi. I have personally not seen this happen before. I have asked the question at the factory and am waiting for a reply.
As we do have a big parts shipment leaving the factory today, I have asked for one of these locknuts to be added to our shipment. This should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. I can email the complete service manual for the saildrive to you but I cannot post any pdf forms on this forum. Please email me directly and I will attend to this.
