High Amp Balmar alternator for Beta43

I will be purchasing a new Beta43 to replace my old Perkins 4.108. I have a Balmar 94 series 210A alternator on the Perkins to charge an 800Ah AGM battery bank. I want to replace that with a Balmar AT 220A alternator. Will that alternator fit on the Beta43 or do I need to go down to the Balmar XT 175A alternator?

My understanding is that the proper procedure would be to send the alternator that fits to Beta in the UK to be fitted on the engine as it is being assembled and prepared for shipment to me, so it is aligned properly. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Oops. That's a Balmar XT 170A alternator, not 175A.

We have fitted the XT-DF-170 to the Beta 43 here in NC before with no problem.

What about the AT-DF-200-K6, which is the one I would like to fit.

Do we not need to send it to the factory to have it factory fit for precise alignment?

This one will also work.
As your engine is on order already, you may not want to delay it. We can fit it here at a reasonable charge.

It's not on order yet, but will be. I'm in Portland, Oregon, so will be putting my boat on the hard a week from Monday. Then taking the Perkins out to take final measurements for custom motor mounts. Then place the order for the engine.

Our yard, Rocky Pointe, orders through H&M Marine. I was under the impression that all Beta Marine engines coming to the USA come through you guys, Is that not the case? If it isn't then I'm sorry I took up your time.

Beta Marine West (H&M) are a distributor and they work directly with the factory as it makes no sense for engines to be shipped to NC and then trucked 3,000 miles across the country. However we are all in the same Beta family and we do work closely together so no problem with your inquiry at all.

As you engine is not on order yet, I suggest that you ask H&M to get the alternator that you want. Leave it to them to work out if they will have the alternator sent to the factory in the UK or if they will fit it themselves. Either way, you will get what you want on your engine.

Cheers, Stanley
