Existing Power: Most common with a Volvo MD7A and a close coupled Walter V-drive

The Volvo transmission and v-drive will not fit a modern engine.

For this reason, the Beta 16 with a ZF 15 MIV, V-drive transmission has been used to repower many a Cape Dory 30s over the years. The Beta 20 engine can also be used but will only fit the cutter version. The Beta 20 engine is too long and would sit tight against the mizzen mast of the ketch rig.
