white smoke

I have a Beta 30 with only 110 hours, the

engine was installed 2.5 years ago, I have not put a lot of hours because I use it mostly just in and out of the harbor.

Recently I have taken 2 trips of 4 plus hours each , there is a white smoke coming from the exhaust at 2500 rpm.

Can you point me to what might be the cause of the white smoke.

Hello Wayne,

We start to get this call every year at this time. The white smoke is moisture in the exhaust. Which is normal. It comes from the exhaust being water cooled and what you are seeing is condensation of the exhaust. This happens this time of year due to the changing air temperature and water temperatures. Which create conditions to create a 'fog' from the exhaust.

Hi Farron,

Thank you for the information.  Are there any other causes for the white smoke / moisture? I ask be cause the first time I noticed it was the beginning of August, then this past weekend, on the Gulf Coast.  Besides the smoke, engine was performing properly.
