Prop size problems with Betamarine 30 on a Pretorien 35

Hi guys,

I installed a brand new BETA 30 with Sea Prop60 and FlexoFold prop 3 blades.

FlexoFold sent me a 3 blade prop 15x09 but my engine Beta 30hp doesn't reach 3600rpm max, only 3200rpm.

FlexoFold answered me with this email, but It didn't solve the problem, they say it's the right size, but I still have the issue...

"Dear Claudio,

The data we have received, Beta 30, 30/3600, red. Ratio 2,15:1 and a Pretorien 35, LWL 9,24m, indicate your need for the propeller you have received (15x09-3L). Most of the information like engine type, reduction ratio and boat can be verified. Some issues are not quite clear and that is engine performance and a packing error.

Although we monitor and check all steps in the packaging process, human factors can still influence the quality of our work. However, if "15x09-3L" is engraved in the blades, then we can eliminate the packing error.

Please recheck the metal plate on the engine what does it say max hp @ max rpm and gear reduction

The engine performance cannot be measured but if 1) is as expected, and is it really a beta 30, then we question the engine conditions. Fuel pump, nozzles, compression, inlet air restriction?s, etc. must be in good shape.

if we make reverse engineering to find the missing revs we are talking about a 14x08-3L, this is the smallest 3-blade we have. A thumb rules says, 1 diameter gives app. 250 Rpms and 1 pitch app 125 Rpms.

a. You can return the prop if it is not painted or have any damages like scratches and we will refund the prop less a return fee for refurbish of the prop

b. or if you would like to try the blades 14x08-3L, but this is not what suits the engine Beta 30!

Best regards"

I'm worried cause 14x08 it could be under propped...

Thanks a lot

Claudio

Have you checked the calibration of your tach with a strobe to verify that 3k rpm is really 3k?

My Beta 38 had an error at w.o.t. but  not noticeable at lower rpm.
