Removing used zinc anode form brass screw in receptacle

I have replaced the zinc on my Beta 25 on a yearly basis typically on the haul out.

The removed anode has been consumed as expected.
Question: how to remove the remaining zinc from the screw in receptacle (brass). Soak it in vinegar?
