MD11C repower

I have fried the MD11C that I currently have on my boat and am in the process of tracking down a replacement to install.  With your Beta motors being compatible with the Volvo components, is this a cheaper way to go than trying to track down a fully rebuilt Penta engine?

Hi,

You dont say where you are and this may make a differance in finding parts for your MD11C. Some parts are no longer available in the States and even if you do rebuild, you will still have a 30 year old engine that has been rebuilt.

We can supply a number of different engines to fit the same engine beds as the old Volvo. Your actual cost may be a bit more that a rebuild but you will end up with a brand new engine, transmission, alternator, starter, instrument panel, all under full manufacturrs warranty.

If you let me know where you are and what boat you have, I'll do my best to advise you.

Regards, Stanley

I live in Central Florida. I am having a very hard time tracking down all the seals and rings for the Volvo motor that is on the boat now which has somewhat discouraged me from trying to rebuild. I have found a motor that was rebuilt recently about 2 hours away from me, but I am a little nervous with the use of "recently". I am also curious, these beta engines, are they Kubota engines?

Any help that you could offer would be great. I would feel better buying a fully new engine but it would really depend on just how much more it would cost me.

You will get much more with a complete new engine than with a rebuilt one but you will spend more money in the short term. If you have a 30 year old engine that has been fully rebuilt you will have to check if the transmission, starter motor, alternator and injection pump have also been re-built.

All of our engines use Kubota diesels as their base and all engine parts are available from us and from Kubota dealers world wide. These parts are at standard Kubota pricing and not specially inflated for "marine" purposes.

If you wish to email me at stan@betamarinenc.com and let me know what boat you have, I will be able to give you pricing on the engine. Remember that when your boat was built, there was not the choice of engines available to the boatbuilder as there is today. We go up in small stages (16HP, 20HP, 25HP, 28HP, 35HP) so we can tailor your new engineand transmission to you boat instead of the one size fits all approach of years ago. I can also help with prop calculations etc.
