TMC60A Leak Repair

I have a Beta 35 with the TMC60A transmission installed on my sailboat.  For the past year, I have noticed a small amount of ATF drips beneath the transmission.  The fluid level drops from the full mark to the add mark over about 75 hours of operation.  The leak appears to be coming from the aft seal area where the transmission shaft couples to the drive shaft.  Is this rear seal serviceable without removing the transmission, or am I looking at an expensive removal and repair?  Any other possibilities?  The leake is not coming from the dip stick or breather.

As long as you have a regular stuffing box, the transmission can be removed from the Beta 35 in only a few minutes.
Then the rear seal is easy to replace.

If you have a dripless stuffing box, then it is likely that the boat will have to be hauled before the transmission can be removed.

Hi Rod,

Another possibility is that the ATF is leaking out the spline, not the output shaft seal.

This was the case with mine and you need to reseal the spline with Threebond 1211 sealant and correct torque.
